450 Rhode Island was designed as a build-to-suit corporate headquarters for a well-known San Francisco multimedia firm. The project employs the steep topography of the site to conceal three levels of parking underground, and scales the inhabited floors along the sloping street fronts to comply with the required 40-foot height limit. Primary interior circulation is via a central glass spine. A large landscaped roof deck offers sheltered outdoor gathering space with commanding views of downtown.
